We made it

We need to move Australia closer to the rest of the world . . . that was a long 24 hours. It was pretty much exactly 24 hours from when our flight left Melbourne to when we touched down in Athens. The 5 hours in Dubai wasn't a highlight -- after 12 months of Asian airports, it is a depressing place. Lets hope they get the new terminal right -- it is amazing to see thousands of people sleeping on the floor, because they don't have chairs or sitting room for everyone.

Anyway, we arrived and were met by our driver who took us not to Piraeus, but to Alina, which was a good thing, for apparently it was I who was confused about where we actually staying. It was a little embarassing to ask the receptionist at the hotel where we were on the map, and have her say "You're not even in this city . . . ".

We did some provisioning last night, and then walked down to the marina to see our new home for the next 14 days -- Asia III. Ironic yes! We then had dinner and an early night.

Off to pick up the boat, so not sure when or where we'll be next!

We're off!

We're off to sail the Cyclades tonight -- then to Skopelos with our friends Sarah and Dave on the 13th. So stay tuned, hopefully lots of photos and stories to come (assuming we can get internet access!)

After a quick stop in Hong Kong, I flew into Melbourne on Saturday, and got in the car to go to Anne's 60th in Drouin. Was a cold, but nice day.

Had a great, if not quick, visit back to Canada to see my family. Here's a picture of my little niece, Ember, who at 2 and 1/2 is quite a handful.
