Hello! It is Day 4 in New Zealand, and gale force winds and heavy rain/weather have convinced us to stay in Wanaka and relax! We had a great flight into Queenstown -- one of the most beautiful landings I have ever seen -- you feel like you can reach out and touch the mountains -- especially since the plane needs to drop quickly into the valley before running into more mountains.

Saturday we just puttered around Queenstown and drove up to Wanaka. Sunday we spent the day at Cardrona, which had received 15cm of fresh snow on Saturday night, so we had some great fun. Yesterday was Treble Cone, which was good, but tough as the snow was quite carved up and heavy, so it was tough on the legs.

We've been getting up at 6:30am most mornings, so needless to say after a full day of skiing, we're asleep by 9pm! Haven't really done much about night life!

Tomorrow will be more boarding -- hopefully there will be more snow tonight and if so, we'll head to Treble Cone. If not, Cardrona!

For some reason my laptop isn't working and this is from an internet cafe in Wanaka, so there won't be pictures until the weekend. Sorry!

Now things get interesting on the blog again -- we're off on another trip! This time to New Zealand for 7 days. We're flying into Queenstown, then picking up a rental car and driving about 1.5 hours north to Wanaka (or Lake Wanaka). We'll then be in the base of the mountains in the area of the South Island pull out in the pictures.

The mountains we'll be skiing (or snowboarding) are Treble Cone, Cardrona, The Remarkables and Coronet Peak.

Is has been a slow season, but the last few days has brought colder weather and snow, so here's hoping!

Will hopefully update both blog and pictures on the fly (ala Japan) if possible!

Sorry that there aren't more recent updates, we've been busy. Lots of weekends away, and when we're around, still unpacking.

We're off to New Zealand for a week next weekend -- will try and get some updates while we're away!
