Yesterday was a busy day -- driving to Healesville (about 1.5 hours east of Melbourne) to the Sanctuary. I had been 10 years ago, but Mom, Dad and Scott were suitably impressed. The sympathetic combination of Australian native forests, animals and humans is truly amazing. It is great to see these elusive creatures close up, yet not in cages. Highlights: watching a very large joey climb in and out of Mom's pouch (captured on video); a baby flying fox tucked in Mom's wings; and a deep and meaningful conversation between Scott and a kookaburra with attitude. We ended the journey by driving back via Kinglake -- a mountainous national park north-east of the city. Gratutious pictures of cute koalas and the like can be found here.

Finally saw Lantana last night. Deserving of all praise and awards it has had flung at it, and one I recommend as well.
